Dear LittleToe:
Thank you for being thoughtful. In all honesty, these
topics are the result of pent up frustrations of
14 years of a life of enslavement.
It is one of the outlets that I use in a positive way
to figure things out. You make very good points; points
that I need to consider and reflect upon.
Your friend,
Richard

Depending on where you stand regarding this subject there can
no disputing the influence of the Bible in art, literature, and even
in the influence of the making of common laws.Separating the Bible and Religion
This topic is not focused on discussing the Watchtower's viewpoint
or any other religious viewpoints regarding the Bible. It's primarily
focused on the book itself.Your viewpoint regarding the Bible
Some on this board may view it as a great literary work, and others
may view it as a history book, or time piece of sorts; and still others
as the inspired word of God.Regardless, of how an individual feels about it, human society
still regards it with some measure of decency and respect.
Why else would they want you to place your hand and swear
on the Bible in a court of law if it did not carry some measure
of respectability?Questions to consider
Generally, how do you view the Bible?
- Do you respect it as a great literary work,
history book, or the word of God?
Please add your thoughts and
comments for a lively discussion.Respectfully,

Hello/Goodbye (I Don't Know Why I Say Hello/I Say Goodbye) - What Gives?
by BizzyBee inseveral posters (whom i will not name because it doesn't matter) have basically said good-bye lately.
we all responded as usual, with genuine sentiments - how much we will miss them, etc.
but, quite frankly there is something almost disparaging or critical implied toward the rest of us who choose to remain on the board by those who "move on.

Dear Bizzy Bee:
In my particular case, I was going through
burn out. I was writing two articles a day
everyday including formating and designing
them with colours and pictures. And, I felt
that I was healed.
Truthfully, I missed the board and
the discussions. In addition, there
were quite a few individuals who
emailed me to come back.
Sorry, I did not mean to mislead anyone.
Respectfully,

Dear exwitless:
That is a fair question. Two reasons, primarily
one is that I really missed it. And, the second
is that some individuals really liked the
articles that I wrote and it seemed to
help them.

Dealing with the Different Personality Types on this Board
Dealing with the multiple personalities in the Kingdom Hall
or life in general can prove to be quite challenging at
times.Having been a lurker before making the commitment to
join the board, it could not be helped to notice the differ-
rent levels of responses and anger in some of the
commentaries posted. Is the anger misplaced at times?
It is understandable that individuals at one time who
professed Christianity and to being one of Jehovah's
Witnesses would become angry over finding out the
true history of the Watchtower Society.
But more times than not, the anger is misplaced or
misdirected toward individuals who have more or less
experienced the same types of tragedies as the angry
party.Letting go of the anger
Personally, speaking, when an individual has an
"ax to grind" who does it really hurt? Why attack, insult, or become critical of someone
"I would rather build bridges of communication and
who has undergone the same types of obstacles
and circumstances as you have?
create friendships than build walls and have enemies."

To be a Nice Apostate or a Mean Apostate.....
by AK - Jeff in..... that is the question.. how do you react - and is it a 'planned reaction', when confronted with jdubs in public?.
i have personally determined that i will not allow people whom i knew for 40 years in some cases to 'shun' me without a cost to the reputation of their religion in the eyes of those who see it.. if i come face to face with a witness who turns the other way or rudely brushes past [as if i am dead], i will point out to all in the area [carefull not to appear the raving lunatic] that this is the way jehovah's witnesses act toward one who has quietly left their faith.
i expect two things will begin to happen as a result.. 1- witnesses will become so paranoid of the possiblility of meeting me and being embarrassed in public, that they will alter their schedules to avoid the places i might be.

I have run into them quite often since
the college I attend has some Jehovah's
Witnesses.
My position is neither here nor there
concerning them.

The Territories we were Banned from Preaching
After an interesting phone call yesterday with an ex-Jehovah's
Witness, it was mentioned during the course of the conversation
that the Watchtower Society had placed restrictions on certain
areas and houses. The Amityville horror house on Long Island
One house in particular that comes to mind is 112 Ocean
Avenue on Long Island. This was the infamous house
dubbed as the Amityville horror house.
In addition, certain areas of Brooklyn were also dubbed as
restricted because of mob violence toward the Witnesses.Other banned or restricted areas
In Florida, the infamous town known as Cassadaga which is in-
habited by fortune tellers, soothsayers, witches and warlocks;
I believe was founded by the organization known as Wicca,
was also a banned territory. What about your territories?
Was there a particular house or territory that
was "banned" by the Society that you can recall? What reasons were given for the restrictions?

Thinking like a Jehovah's Witness would think

Thinking like a Jehovah's Witness would think
On a prior discussion thread a couple of individuals pointed out
to me, that I am more or less infected with "Witness" think. In
other words, I still think like a Jehovah's Witness. Then again,
its been since July, 05 since I have been out. There is a lot of truth behind those statements
Although, secretly, I always knew that, somehow I enjoyed that
part of my personality. But, the question is:
How does a person who was indoctrinated in theNaziideologies,
philosophies, and propaganda, get away from "Witness" think?Something's were good and others not so good
I mentioned on a prior post about the moral factor and
concerning that, I seriously do love that part of my life.
My style of writing reflects their style as well too. But
the ideologies are were I draw the line.Questions regarding these matters
If you were an ex-witness how did you overcome
"Witness" think?Do you still adhere to any of the standards that
we were once taught as Witnesses? How do you purge the mental brainwashing
propaganda of "Witness" think?
Please post your comments for a lively discussion
of these matters.Respectfully,
The Wanderer
P. S. Ak Jeff, thanks for the encouragement
over the telephone today.
